Lynne Aquino and her dad, Bob Blalock, get ready to deliver meals
Robert Blalock started volunteering for Meals on Wheels in 1982 and has delivered meals in Salinas almost every week since then! Bob is a charter member of Steinbeck Rotary and helped to start the Steinbeck Rotary Team that has been delivering meals for over 20 years. Bob says the most rewarding thing about volunteering for Meals on Wheels is seeing how much the clients appreciate the meals. Bob thinks anyone who might consider volunteering should “Come ride with us for a day and see what we do. It’s a very worthwhile service.”
Bob has lived in north Salinas for fifty-two years. He and his wife raised two sons and two daughters. Bob was in office equipment and sales and for the last twenty years of his career he worked for Peninsula Office Equipment. In addition to helping Meals on Wheels, he also volunteers at his church and with the Alzheimer’s Association and enjoys fishing and camping.
